Set of resources of the company that appear on the liability side of its balance sheet, formed by all obligations or debts with third parties, i.e., those that the company has contracted with persons other than its own shareholders (e.g., with financial institutions or suppliers). External funds or resources complement equity as a source of financing, and are given priority in the liquidation of the company’s assets.
